Marriage LicenseNelson S. Dunaway and Coly P. Hancock obtained a marriage license on 28 July 1886 in Halifax County, Virginia. E.H. Vaughan,Clerk of Court, granted license for the marriage. The marriage license indicated that the marriage was going to take place on 29 Jul 1886 and that Nelson was a farmer.2

He was able to read and write and he spoke English. His place of birth, as well as that of his father and mother, was Virginia. Nelson worked on his own account as a farmer in general farming.4
1930-HoFNelson Snead Dunaway was listed as the head of family on the 1930 Census recorded 4 April 1930 (official date 1 Apr 1930) at County Road #14 in Rustburg, Campbell County, Virginia. Living with him was his wife, Virginia Keesee. Residing in the same family were, his son Daniel W. Dunaway and his mother-in-law Sarah E. (--?--). The census entry showed that Nelson rented the home the family lived in and they lived on a farm. They did not have a radio set to enjoy. Nelson was 32 years old when he first married. He was able to read and write and he spoke English. His place of birth, as well as that of his father and mother, was Virginia. Nelson worked on his own account as a farmer in general farming. He was not a veteran.5
